Job Title: Senior PHP Laravel Developer

Location: Remote – Latin America

Type of Contract: Full-Time | Remote | contractor

Salary Range: $5,000–$6,000 per month

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior PHP Laravel Developer with extensive experience building, maintaining, and improving web applications using PHP and Laravel. You will take ownership of development tasks, work independently, and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can quickly understand existing systems, get up to speed with the codebase, and make an immediate impact without requiring extensive onboarding or ongoing direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using PHP and the Laravel framework.
• Take ownership of assigned projects and technical tasks, driving them from requirements through implementation and delivery.
• Quickly understand existing codebases, business requirements, and technical workflows to contribute effectively from the outset.
• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with third-party services.
• Write clean, scalable, secure, and maintainable code while following established development best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions independently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members to deliver projects on time while proactively communicating progress, risks, and technical recommendations.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including substantial hands-on experience with PHP and Laravel.
• Strong understanding of modern PHP development practices, object-oriented programming, and software design principles.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and deliver results with minimal supervision or direction.
• Demonstrated ability to onboard quickly, navigate unfamiliar codebases, and become productive without extensive hand-holding.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Solid understanding of Git, debugging, testing, performance optimization, and secure coding practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to take ownership of work through completion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with cloud platforms, deployment pipelines, and CI/CD workflows.
• Familiarity with Docker and modern development environments.
• Experience optimizing application performance and working with existing, complex production systems.
• Ability to identify technical improvements proactively and recommend practical solutions without waiting for detailed instructions.
