Sr Product Designer

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Fundamentally redefine, create and embed a new product (device design) & user experience design (UX) for development across New Categories.
• Play a key role in the formulation of Brand Strategy ensuring design is at the heart and that all design expressions segue with our Brands and their objectives.
• Be a leader with industrial design activities and design projects, to provide compelling design archetypes and quality to align with New Categories brands
• From real-time agile research, consumer listening and assimilation of trends, translate consumer insights into clear design that drive and shape device, device ecosystem (accessories & peripherals) and user interface/ user experience from the start of all project streams.
• Provide creative design works for all New Categories brands and be directly involved in design authorship, idea generation and solution finding, inspiring both internal stakeholders and external partners including agencies to establish a design-centric mind-set and respect the importance of design to future success.
• Lead and be responsible on end-to-end design outputs on multiple design projects from early concept development to final production and ensure and manage device aesthetics and quality in relationship to R&D and Operations, for feasible manufacturing solutions and business effectiveness, for in-market success
• Develop effective working relationships with New Categories, R&D, Operations and other stakeholders, to ensure that world class product design within the New Categories industry and creative ideas are available to support brand strategies.
• Responsible for bring world-class product design and experience in-house teams as well as using external resources to get support such as work and control quality of outputs and also enhance its outputs from external agencies to meet highest levels and feasible solution to bring to market.
• Establish a collaborative partnership approach with stakeholders to flawlessly blend aesthetic and functional design considerations and ensure this is maintained through production to launch
• Be responsible for all design outputs including design presentation, concept development, appearance model and prototypes, CMF and POC/POA verification

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL

Experience Required

• The job holder will be a senior Design professional with extensive and in-depth experience in industrial design and consumer electronics industry
• 8 years or more design experience and design management
• Extensive project management skills and experience
• Strong creative leadership skills and proven ability to influence and align stakeholders

effectively globally

• Significant international experience with the design and development of contemporary digital and electronic products, and fully confident with the technologies and manufacturing processes which support them

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

• Solid experience in creating and leading a multi-disciplinary design team
• Skilled in developing and coaching leaders and diverse teams, inspiring them to be fully engaged and delivering superior performance
• Ideally experienced in fast moving functional products - smart phone & portable devices design experience is a plus
• Experience on all phase of design process (from concept to manufacture through to launch)
• Knowledge of 2D, 3D Design tool (ex. Adobe, Solidworks, Alias, Rhinos, Keyshots etc.)
• Degree in Bachelor/ Master’s in design (focused in industrial design)
• Must have strong project portfolio to demonstrate experience and design skills
• End-to-End design project experience in consumer electronics (especially in portable device including smartphone) is plus.
• Understanding of technology & manufacturing process is plus
• Design award acknowledgement is plus
• Technical knowledge in plastics, metals, coatings, soft goods
• Excellent collaboration skills with fellow designers and project teams, as well as demonstrating trend and CMF thought leadership towards key partners.
• Project management skills
• Knowledge of 2D, 3D Design tools (ex. Adobe, Keyshot)

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

• Bachelor Degree qualification in a relevant design area, such as industrial design, and a minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience.
