Senior Research Scientist will lead the execution of technical activities associated with development of Herbalife’s products in foods and supplements for APAC region including 10+ markets. The position accountabilities include ideating, designing, prototyping, optimizing, scaling up the product solution based on business requirement. It will provide the strong technical experience in an area of relevance, and requires the good coordination and communication skills with multiple function team locally, regionally and globally.

• Literature Search and Analysis: Conduct literature searches using scientific databases, analyze the evidence, and provide science-based recommendations in written reports to support the scientific substantiation of product safety and efficacy- benefit assessments under supervisory guidance.
• Drive scientific empowerment throughout product development: Collaborate closely with R&D, Product Science (PS), Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA) and Marketing teams to fuel product innovation and deliver end-to-end scientific backing.
• Dossier and Monograph Development: Develop product efficacy and safety dossiers and ingredient monographs according to local regulatory requirements, with a focus on scientific substantiation for related health benefits under supervisory guidance.
• Product Life-Cycle Management: Evaluate raw materials and formulas documentation in the product life - cycle management system (Agile) after proper training as part of the product development process.
• Provide scientific technical support to front office: Draw on comprehensive professional expertise to address and resolve the scientific inquiries raised by front office. Develop easy-to-understand, shareable scientific content for distributors and consumers.
• Connect PS and regional Scientific Affair (SA) teams to update technical guidelines: Liaise with global PS and regional SA teams, update and deploy the latest scientific guidance to continuously empower the product.
• Research Project Support: Offer scientific support on research projects (basic or clinical), coordinate collaborations with internal and external partners as needed under supervisory guidance.
• Integrate external academic scientific resources for product validation: Partner with universities, hospitals, research institutions and KOLs, design systematic research roadmaps and facilitate paper publications to boost products’ scientific endorsement and industry recognition.
• Serve as corporate scientific representative: Represent the company with rigorous professionalism at academic forums and public industry activities to elevate the company’s overall influence and recognition within the nutrition and health sector.
• Maintain rigorous professional ethics in all role accountabilities: Execute all job responsibilities consistently in compliance with integrity, ethical standards and industry professional norms.

• SA plays a critical role in a company’s success in the business of nutritional

ingredient and finished product manufacturers as its function encompasses all science-related

issues for the business.

• SA provides not only expertise to directly address complicated scientific questions related to our

products and services at regional level, but also translate science to make it fit for purpose and

understandable by the general public and appropriate for the local cultural and regulatory

environment. We conduct claims substantiation for all Herbalife Nutrition products, external

engagement with different professional and scientific societies, scientific research and

innovation, and answer scientific inquiries/ requests at regional level.

• Interacts with all levels throughout organization mainly PS, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Sourcing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control; Distributors, customers, suppliers/vendors and deeply involved in Product Life-Cycle.

Skills:

• Research Experience: Demonstrated research experience in a relevant scientific field, with a proven track record of conducting literature reviews, data analysis, and report writing.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant local regulatory standards regarding product safety, efficacy, and claim substantiation in the nutrition or dietary supplement industry.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using scientific databases for literature searches. Experience with product life - cycle management systems (such as Agile) is a plus.
• Presentation Skills: Confident, persuasive presenter with proven experience delivering keynote speeches in scientific forums
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey scientific information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaboration Ability: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners, cross - functional teams, and KOLs.
• Bilingual Communication: fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese.

Experience:

• Minimum 6 years of working experience in health food, nutritional supplements or related industries; experience in commercialization and product transformation is preferred.
• Proven experience in cross-department collaboration and driving the delivery of complex projects.
• Solid experience in engaging and collaborating with external academic and scientific research resources.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and mainstream computer applications.
• Experience in overseas market-oriented product development is preferred.

Travel

• Travels on academic forums and industrial events.

Education

• A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in relevant scientific disciplines such as nutrition, biochemistry, food science, or a related field is required.
