Sr. Software Engineer

Agility Partners is seeking a qualified Senior Software Engineer to support a large, regulated utility providing natural gas and electric services. This role offers the opportunity to shape integration standards and support backend services within a large-scale enterprise transformation program. We are seeking two experienced engineers who bring strong technical judgment, hands-on development skills, and the ability to take ownership of complex integrations. The initial focus will center on integration governance, technical reviews, and troubleshooting, with development responsibilities expected to grow as the program progresses.

This is a contract opportunity with potential to convert to full-time employment, anticipated to run through at least the end of 2027 with potential extension. The role is available for an immediate start.

• Establish and apply integration governance, coding standards, and development practices

• Review new integrations, including those built using low-code tools, for maintainability, reliability, and alignment with enterprise standards

• Develop, enhance, and troubleshoot backend services and integrations using Java and Spring Boot, with development work expanding as program needs evolve

• Support integrations running in Azure and investigate application and integration issues

• Use GitHub for source control, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on Kafka-based integrations and connected enterprise platforms, potentially including SAP BTP and MuleSoft

• Provide technical guidance and take ownership of assigned integrations

The ideal candidate

• Extensive hands-on software engineering experience, with the technical depth and independence to operate at the upper end of a senior engineering role

• Strong backend development experience using Java and Spring Boot, particularly for enterprise integrations and services

• Experience developing and troubleshooting applications or integrations in Azure; strong AWS experience may also be considered (Azure architecture experience is not required)

• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven integrations

• Experience using GitHub for code management, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines

• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and technical ownership skills, with experience evaluating integration designs and applying engineering standards

• Preferred: experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and/or MuleSoft, or a willingness to learn and support these platforms

• Preferred: experience establishing integration governance or reviewing low-code integration solutions

• Preferred: experience providing technical leadership or owning integrations across multiple teams

• Preferred: experience supporting enterprise transformation initiatives or working in a regulated industry
