1. Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Tester Senior Tester with hands-on testing expertise, client-facing responsibilities, and team management capabilities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in test planning, test design, test execution, defect management, and automation framework development, along with the ability to coordinate testing activities across cross-functional teams.

The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ownership of testing deliverables, and the ability to work effectively in an Agile environment while contributing to continuous improvement in QA processes.

2. Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Execution

• Analyse business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories to identify test scenarios and testing scope.
• Prepare and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, and traceability matrices.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, system, end-to-end, and exploratory testing.
• Execute smoke, sanity, and release validation testing across different environments.
• Identify gaps in requirements and collaborate with Business Analysts, developers, and stakeholders to clarify expectations.
• Demonstrate strong client-handling skills, including regular communication with clients, understanding business expectations, providing testing updates, addressing concerns, and managing expectations effectively.
• Manage and coordinate the testing team, including task allocation, workload prioritisation, progress monitoring, review of testing deliverables, and ensuring timely completion of assigned activities.
• Proactively identify and communicate testing risks, dependencies, blockers, and potential delivery impacts to relevant stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritising testing activities, allocating time and resources, and meeting project milestones and deadlines without compromising quality.
• Ensure adequate test coverage and quality standards are maintained throughout the software development lifecycle.

Automation Testing

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using frameworks and tools such as Selenium, or Playwright.
• Identify suitable test cases for automation and contribute to automation strategy and framework improvements.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing.
• Analyse automation failures, troubleshoot issues, and distinguish between application defects, script failures, and environment-related issues.
• Maintain reusable automation components and ensure scripts remain reliable, scalable, and maintainable.
• Evaluate opportunities to improve testing efficiency through automation and AI-assisted testing tools.

Defect Management

• Identify, document, prioritise, and track defects throughout the defect lifecycle.
• Work closely with developers and business stakeholders to investigate issues and validate fixes.
• Perform retesting and regression testing to ensure defects are resolved without introducing new issues.
• Provide clear defect reports with reproduction steps, test evidence, expected results, and actual results.
• Monitor defect trends and communicate quality risks, blockers, and dependencies proactively.

Team Coordination and Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate testing activities across team members, projects, and multiple applications.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, developers, product owners, SMEs, and business users.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Provide regular updates on testing progress, execution status, defects, risks, and release readiness.
• Support UAT activities and coordinate with business users to validate business requirements.
• Mentor junior testers, review test cases and automation scripts, and share testing best practices.
• Take ownership of assigned testing deliverables and ensure timely completion of testing activities.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

• Prepare test execution reports, defect summaries, test completion reports, and quality dashboards.
• Maintain testing artefacts and evidence in test management and project tracking tools.
• Identify process improvements to enhance test coverage, productivity, and release quality.
• Contribute to risk-based testing, test estimation, resource planning, and continuous QA improvement initiatives.
• Support production releases through smoke testing, sanity checks, and post-deployment validation.

3. Required Technical Skills

• Manual Testing: Strong knowledge of functional, regression, integration, system, end-to-end, and exploratory testing.
• Automation Testing: Hands-on experience Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent automation tools.
• Test Management: Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar test management and defect tracking tools.
• API Testing: Knowledge of REST APIs, request/response validation, and tools such as Postman.
• Database Testing: Ability to write SQL queries and validate backend data.
• CI/CD: Understanding of automated test execution within build and deployment pipelines.
• Methodologies: Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile, and Scrum practices.
• Documentation: Ability to create and maintain test plans, test cases, test reports, and traceability documentation.
• Version Control: Familiarity with Git or equivalent version control tools.

4. Required Experience and Competencies

• 7–10+ years of experience in software testing, including both manual and automation testing.
• Proven experience testing enterprise web-based applications.
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams and managing testing activities across multiple workstreams.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities, dependencies, risks, and deadlines effectively.
• Strong ownership, accountability, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
• Experience mentoring team members and supporting knowledge transfer.

5. Desirable Skills

• Experience in telecom, asset management, waste management, hospitality, or other enterprise business domains.
• Exposure to mobile application testing on Android and iOS.
• Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter.
• Familiarity with cloud-based applications and enterprise integrations.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted testing, generative AI, AI agent validation, and intelligent test automation.
• Exposure to Business Analysis activities, including requirement reviews, process understanding, and acceptance criteria validation.

6. Key Success Criteria

The Senior Software Tester will be expected to:

• Maintain reliable and effective automation suites.
• Provide transparent and timely reporting on testing progress and quality risks.

Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
