About the role

You join the team as a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer, working alongside a Tech Lead, backend engineers, frontend engineers, and QA. • Clarify business rules with Product Owners, explain technical risks, and propose practical alternatives
• Design shared services that accommodate different product rules
• Agree API contracts, compatibility, and migration plans with consuming teams
• Protect data and access correctness through sound database design, permission checks, transactions, and reliable asynchronous processing
• Work with DevOps on deployment, diagnostics, and recovery
• Improve owned services based on observed reliability and performance needs
• Help colleagues contribute through code reviews, pairing, and documented decisions
• Write code and tests that others can maintain

About you

• Strong relational database skills, including SQL, data modeling, transactions, query performance, and safe migrations
• Experience with APIs and asynchronous workflows that handle retries, duplicate messages, and partial failures
• Practical experience diagnosing production problems and preparing safe releases and recovery
• Clear communication and constructive collaboration with product and engineering colleagues
• Willingness to learn Elixir and functional programming concepts
