SRI LANKAN DREDGING OPERATOR

Responsible for operating specialized dredging equipment to excavate, move, and maintain waterways, ports, and marine construction sites. The role combines heavy equipment operation, mechanical maintenance, and environmental compliance.

Core Responsibilities

• Operate dredging equipment such as cutter suction dredges, hydraulic pipeline dredges, clamshells, and hopper dredges.
• Control machinery systems: pumps, engines, winches, spuds, and hydraulic systems.
• Read and interpret hydrographic survey data to plan dredging cuts, depths, and pipeline layouts.
• Monitor dredge performance (slurry density, flow rates, pump speed, cutterhead RPM) to optimize production.
• Maintain accurate logs and reports for compliance with project and environmental standards.
• Perform routine maintenance: lubrication, filter changes, hose inspections, and minor mechanical repairs.
• Supervise deck crews during dredge setup, mooring adjustments, and pipeline connections.
• Ensure safety compliance: conduct pre-shift briefings, enforce PPE use, and follow lockout/tagout protocols.
