Sr/Staff Software Engineer, Backend | Web Products

For our client, we are seeking a Sr/Staff Software Engineer Backend | Web Products to join the team of a leader in the Technical Services space. This role will lead technical work focused on secure, reliable systems and risk-aware execution. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Technical Services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Deepen understanding of healthcare claims and payments
• Mentor and elevate team programming maturity as a Developer Coach/Multiplier
• Act as a backend voice in cross-team planning and execution
• Contribute to the development of complex in-browser applications with extensibility and security
• Balance feature development with technical debt for software sustainability
• Architect and implement applications applying ML for data processing
• Promote and integrate agentic engineering practices within the team

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend programming experience; full-stack experience is a plus
• Strong expertise in Java or Scala; experience with Rust is a bonus
• Proven track record of designing and shipping customer-facing web applications
• Experience with distributed systems on cloud services, ensuring reliability and high availability
• Ability to craft and convey technical design documents that align technical and product goals
• Collaborative skills with cross-functional teams, focusing on system outcomes over personal accolades
