Store Support Associate (Food Department)

We’re immediately hiring associates for our Food department. Experienced Retail Associates, Baggers, and Stockers are Needed!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES in Food Department (Retail Associates) (responsibilities include, but are not limited to)

Organizes and stocks Food display areas per store’s layouts, planograms and standards

· Setting up and maintaining the condition of the Food Department

· Ensures Food is handled, stocked, rotate and merchandised

· Checks temperature for damage and unacceptable quality, follows established return procedures with immediate supervisor

Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate Food products per Marukai’ standards

· Proactively supports any promotional activity within the store and contributes to an effective working environment

· Breaking down pallets, separating Food products for sales floor, cooler and/or back room prep area

· Processing and/or wrapping Food products

· Maintains a well-organized back stock/cooler area

Ensures that all Food products are in it’s right place, so shoppers can find what they need quickly and easily

· Maintains good communication with store management, associates and suppliers/vendors

· Serves as a back-up for the Food Department and in other departments as needed

· Stocking empty shelves and helps customer service department when the line gets very busy

· Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep

· Notifies immediate supervisor of out of stock products

· Notifies immediate supervisor of price discrepancies

Must be knowledgeable of merchandise placement and location

· Must clean and sanitize work areas

Customer Service:

· Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions

· Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques

· Meets or exceeds Department’s sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures

· Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor

· Ensures a safe and clean work environment

· Cross Training:

· Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.

· Perform other tasks that would be instructed by Department Manager or Store Manager around the floor during busy times of the day

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

· Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.

· Must be able to use job related equipment such as a stepping ladder and dollies

· No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred

· Previous experience as a Retail Associate, Stocker, or Bagging Clerk is preferred

· Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid

Inventory:

• Notifies immediate supervisor of out of stock products
• Notifies immediate supervisor of price discrepancies
• Must be knowledgeable of merchandise placement and location

Department Maintenance:

• Verifying ads, hanging current sale signs, and removing out-of-date sale signs
• Ensures proper pricing and signing of products
• Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor
• Ensures a safe and secure work environment

Cross Training:
As a member of the company, s/he exemplifies teamwork and is open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.
Safety, Loss Prevention and Procedural Compliance:

• Follows Company guidelines for managing confidential information, customer satisfaction and supervising store personnel
• Follow safety practices such as: washing hands, using a pair of gloves, wearing a clean uniform per shift, trim and clean fingernails often
• Under the direction of immediate supervisor, administers IIPP Procedures, Safety Program and Procedures
• Assists immediate supervisor in Loss Prevention in curbing internal and external theft
• Ensures satisfactory maintenance, appearance and condition of assigned facilities to comply with security, safety and environmental codes and ordinances
• Enforces compliance with all local, state, federal regulations and company policy pertaining to safety and loss prevention
• Complies with all Health Compliance and Food Regulations
• Complies with all OSHA requirements
