About the role
This position is in the Secretariat for Special Operations (SSO), Office of the Assistant
Secretary of War for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict (OASW(SO/LIC)). The
ASW(SO/LIC) serves as the principal civilian advisor and assistant to the Secretary of War
and has statutory responsibility for overseeing special operations-peculiar administrative
matters pertaining to the readiness and organization of special operations forces (SOF),
resources and equipment, and civilian personnel.
The Operations Analyst serves as the central operational engine for the SSO, driving daily
business cadence, cross-functional coordination, and rapid issue resolution to keep
routine operations moving forward without friction. While maintaining baseline oversight of
the physical workspace and infrastructure, the primary dividend of this role is broad
operational continuity: unblocking workflows, aligning administrative and logistical
requirements, coordinating vendor and partner integration, and ensuring leadership and
staff have the resources, systems, and operational support necessary to execute their
mission every day.
What you'll do
Daily Operational Cadence & Workflow Execution: The Operations Analyst acts as the
central intake and execution lead for daily operational requirements across the
organization. This role actively monitors organizational rhythm, triage internal staff
requests, identifies and eliminates administrative and process bottlenecks, and
coordinates across directorates to keep daily priorities moving forward on schedule. The
Analyst also refines and standardizes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure
consistent, predictable business execution.
Workspace & Infrastructure Mission Readiness: The Analyst oversees the operational
readiness of SSO workspaces and secure suites to maintain an uninterrupted working
environment. Core duties include managing seating assignments and space
reconfigurations, conducting regular walkthroughs to preemptively identify maintenance or
hazard issues, and serving as the primary liaison holding on-site facility, custodial, and
technical contractors accountable to agreed service standards. The role also coordinates
physical security access, key control, badging, and life-safety drill procedures in
compliance with organizational directives.
Logistics, Procurement & Stakeholder Synchronization: The role drives end-to-end
resource support by managing office supplies, specialized peripherals, and asset
inventories through their full lifecycle. Working directly with resource managers and
vendors, the Analyst expedites purchasing, tracks deliveries, and oversees recurring
service accounts. Additionally, the Analyst orchestrates logistical support and agenda
planning for high-level stakeholder syncs, records actionable decisions and tracks post meeting follow-ups, and manages the operational onboarding pipeline to ensure incoming
staff are equipped and integrated without delay.
Qualifications
- Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI. U.S. Citizenship required.
- Technical: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience
with dashboards, reporting tools, or contract management systems preferred.
- Core Competencies: Ability to work independently, manage competing
priorities, communicate effectively with senior military and civilian stakeholders,
and exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations. Must be able to work well in
team environments
- Experience: 5 to 8+ years of progressive experience in business operations, project
coordination, or facilities management.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g. Business Administration,
Operations Management, Facilities Management, Supply Chain Management or
Engineering)
Desired Skills:
- Familiar or experience with SOF operations, secure environments, and federal
space utilization standards.
- Ability to think at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels to visualize impacts
of decision making in complex systems.
- Project Management or Process Improvement certification (PMI, SCRUM, ACP) with
ability to analyze complex processes and provide recommendations to improve
effectiveness.
