Tax Return Specialist / Staff Accountant

Avicenna Accounting Automation Inc. is seeking an experienced Tax Return Specialist to prepare business and individual tax returns and complete the related accounting work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare Forms 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 1040
• Perform a final review of clients’ financial statements before tax preparation
• Review Profit and Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Trial Balances, and General Ledgers for accuracy
• Complete outstanding bookkeeping and account reconciliations
• Prepare and post adjusting and year-end journal entries
• Identify and resolve discrepancies, including suspense and clearing-account balances
• Enter financial statements and client-provided information into tax preparation software
• Review depreciation, payroll, loans, shareholder activity, and other tax-related accounts
• Contact clients or internal team members regarding missing or unclear information
• Complete tax returns accurately and prepare them for final management review and filing
• Maintain organized workpapers and supporting documentation

Qualifications:

• Experience preparing Forms 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 1040
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping, adjusting journal entries, and financial statements
• Experience with professional tax preparation software; ProSeries experience is preferred
• Ability to identify accounting discrepancies and make appropriate corrections
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tax deadlines
• Experience working in an accounting or tax preparation firm is strongly preferred

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
