Staff Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with 1-5 years of experience to support month-end close, general ledger accounting, accounts payable, and external audit activities. The ideal candidate has strong reconciliation skills, experience with two-way and three-way invoice matching, and the ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, accounts payable, and other general ledger accounts.
• Research and resolve reconciling items, aged balances, and unusual general ledger activity in a timely manner.
• Process and review vendor invoices using two-way and three-way matching; verify coding, approvals, purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation.
• Investigate invoice pricing, quantity, and receipt discrepancies with vendors, Purchasing, Receiving, and other internal departments.
• Prepare and post accurate journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including account analyses, rollforwards, and management schedules.
• Assist with intercompany accounting, fixed assets, and other accounting activities as assigned.
• Support external audits by preparing PBC schedules, gathering documentation, and responding to auditor questions.
• Respond to ad hoc requests and assist with special projects and financial analyses.
• Help strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and recordkeeping practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1-5 years of accounting experience.
• Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close support.
• Experience with accounts payable and two-way and three-way invoice matching.
• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and U.S. GAAP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and basic data analysis.
• Experience working with an ERP or other accounting system.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting an external financial statement audit.
• Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity environment.
• Experience with intercompany accounting, inventory, fixed assets, or accounts payable.
• Experience with JD Edwards or a similar ERP system.
