Staff Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. Duties

• Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities by compiling financial data and preparing reports in Excel for data analysis.
• Assist with internal controls compliance, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts regularly, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly through detailed account analysis.
• Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining meticulous records of financial transactions.
• Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation related to governmental or non-profit accounting practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or pursuing certification is a plus.
• Proven experience in accounting roles with familiarity in GAAP, governmental accounting, or public accounting environments.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Kronos, Ceridian, ADP, UltiPro, Paychex, or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated ability in technical accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet analysis.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite—particularly Excel—for data entry, spreadsheet management, and data analysis.
• Knowledge of payroll management systems like Kronos or ADP is advantageous.
• Exceptional numeracy skills combined with attention to detail and accuracy in handling large volumes of data.
• Effective communication skills for customer service interactions and cross-departmental collaboration.
