Staff Data Engineer, Market Data

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Data Engineer, Market Data to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will focus on building and operating the market data systems that support real-time trading activity. The engineer will design low-latency, high-throughput solutions that help ensure data is normalized, reliable, and ready for use across the platform. This is a highly collaborative position that partners with engineers and stakeholders to improve performance, observability, and overall market data capabilities.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $207,485 – $244,100 annually

Responsibilities

• Build and operate market data components for the trading platform
• Design systems with a focus on low latency and high throughput for real-time data
• Enhance system reliability and performance through observability and on-call response
• Produce high-quality, testable code while improving overall code quality within the team
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to enhance market data capabilities

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, specifically in low-latency systems
• Hands-on expertise with market data systems including feed handlers and normalization
• Proficient in low-latency Java or C++, with knowledge of high-throughput messaging protocols
• Familiar with market data protocols like FIX and ITCH/OUCH
• Demonstrated ability to deliver complete features and maintain operational systems
• Skilled in utilizing generative AI with a focus on quality and efficiency
