Staff Engineer Java (Springboot, Kafka, RxJava, Kafka)

At 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗢𝗔𝗥𝗗 | 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 & 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁, a firm specialized in recruitment and talent acquisition, we are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer (Java) with more than 10 years of experience, to join a strategic area responsible for building and evolving high-scale, business-critical systems .

This is a highly technical role for an engineer who goes beyond frameworks and tools, with a strong understanding of distributed architectures, asynchronous messaging, low-latency systems java reactive programming (Vert.x, RxJava) and software design principles . You will have real influence over architecture and engineering standards, working in lean teams and leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools.

🔎 What are we looking for?

• 🚀 Architecture & High-Scale Systems: Design, build and evolve highly scalable microservices and distributed systems , ensuring reliability, maintainability and performance across mission-critical services.
• ☕ Deep Java Engineering: Bring strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Vert.x and RxJava , with a solid understanding of modern functional programming approaches, concurrency and performance optimisation.
• 📨 Event-Driven & Asynchronous Architecture: Design and optimise asynchronous messaging and event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka , with particular attention to throughput, latency, resilience and system behaviour under scale.
• 🧠 Technical Leadership: Influence architecture and engineering decisions across multiple initiatives, defining design patterns, technical standards and engineering best practices while remaining strongly hands-on.
• ⚡ Performance & Reliability: Analyse and improve system performance, identifying bottlenecks and designing solutions capable of supporting high-volume, low-latency environments .
• ☁️ Cloud, Kubernetes & Data: Work with Azure or AWS , Kubernetes and modern data platforms, combining SQL and NoSQL technologies such as PostgreSQL and Couchbase within distributed architectures.
• 🤖 AI-Augmented Engineering: Incorporate modern Agentic AI and AI-assisted development tools such as Tabnine and Gemini into engineering workflows to improve developer productivity and support efficient, high-quality software delivery.
