Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Personalization

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer Personalization to join the team of a leader in the Media space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Media environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $227,495 – $324,993 annually

Responsibilities

• Own and enhance machine learning models for the company’s Home feed
• Design and implement personalized recommendations for millions of users
• Build content recommendation systems for AI-driven experiences
• Train, evaluate, and optimize large language models using advanced techniques
• Collaborate on experimentation strategies with cross-functional teams
• Drive A/B testing, model monitoring, and optimization initiatives
• Enhance ML platform capabilities and production systems
• Shape the technical direction and architecture of personalization systems
• Mentor fellow machine learning engineers

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with production machine learning systems
• Deep expertise in recommendation systems, personalization, or content discovery
• Strong proficiency in Python; experienced with PyTorch
• Hands-on experience with large language model training and optimization techniques
• Proficient in operating large-scale inference systems focusing on latency and cost
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences
• Expertise in designing A/B tests for user outcome improvement
• Experience with distributed machine learning workloads and data orchestrations tools
