Staff Nurse

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Care & Monitoring

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Monitor vital signs and assess patient condition regularly.
• Identify any changes in patient status and inform the duty doctor immediately.
• Assist patients with daily activities and ensure comfort and safety.

2. Medication Administration

• Administer medications as prescribed by the consultant.
• Maintain medication charts and ensure timely administration.
• Monitor for side effects and adverse drug reactions.
• Ensure safe handling of high-alert medications.

3. Clinical Procedures

• Perform IV cannulation, catheterization, wound dressing, and other nursing procedures.
• Assist doctors during ward rounds and minor procedures.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and procedures.

4. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate nursing notes, intake-output charts, and treatment records.
• Ensure proper shift handover with detailed patient updates.
• Report any incidents or complications to the Ward Incharge.

5. Infection Control & Safety

• Follow hospital infection control policies and hand hygiene protocols.
• Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation.
• Maintain cleanliness and discipline in the ward.

6. Patient & Family Education

• Educate patients and attendants regarding medications, diet, and discharge instructions.
• Provide emotional support and ensure patient satisfaction.
