Staff Nurse - CSSD

Job Purpose

To ensure the safe and effective decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable medical and surgical instruments in accordance with infection control and patient safety standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee the decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging and sterilization of medical and surgical instruments according to established standards and procedures.
• Ensure proper operation and monitoring of sterilization equipment, including completion of required quality checks, documentation and sterilization records.
• Manage the safe storage, handling, distribution and traceability of sterile instruments and supplies to Operating Theatre, wards and other clinical areas.
• Inspect instruments and surgical sets for cleanliness, functionality and completeness, and coordinate the replacement or repair of damaged instruments when required.
• Adhere to infection prevention, occupational safety and quality standards while working closely with OT, Nursing and other clinical departments to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies.

Job Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognised institution.
• Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
• Relevant working experience in CSSD, Operating Theatre or a hospital environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of sterilization processes, infection prevention, surgical instruments and CSSD standards will be an added advantage.
• Detail-oriented, responsible and able to work effectively in a team and on shifts, weekends and public holidays when required
