Staff Pharmacist – Independent Retail & Compounding Pharmacy

Position: Staff Pharmacist
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Pharmacy Type: Independent Community & Compounding Pharmacy

About the Position

We are seeking a motivated, patient-focused Staff Pharmacist to join our independent retail and compounding pharmacy. We provide the services patients expect from a traditional community pharmacy, along with non-sterile prescription compounding and personalized medication services.

The ideal candidate is a pharmacist who enjoys working directly with patients, collaborating with healthcare providers, and being part of a close-knit independent pharmacy team.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and dispense prescription medications accurately and safely.
  • Provide counseling and medication education to patients.
  • Perform prescription verification, DUR, clinical interventions, and medication reviews.
  • Communicate with prescribers and healthcare professionals regarding prescriptions and patient care.
  • Administer vaccinations and other authorized pharmacy services.
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and daily pharmacy operations.
  • Maintain compliance with Florida Board of Pharmacy requirements and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Participate in inventory management, ordering, controlled-substance procedures, and medication storage requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build strong relationships with patients.
  • Perform and/or supervise non-sterile compounding according to established procedures and applicable standards.
  • Accurately calculate, measure, prepare, package, label, and document compounded medications.
  • Maintain appropriate compounding records, cleaning procedures, quality-control documentation, and beyond-use dating procedures.
  • Assist with workflow improvement and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy environment.
  • Help develop and maintain a positive, professional culture within the pharmacy.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacy degree.
  • Active Florida Pharmacist License in good standing.
  • Previous community/retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Experience with non-sterile compounding preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of prescription processing, medication therapy, pharmacy law, and patient counseling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively with technicians and other pharmacy staff.
  • Experience with pharmacy management systems is preferred.
  • Immunization certification preferred.

What We Offer

  • Independent pharmacy environment with a patient-centered approach.
  • Opportunity to practice both community pharmacy and non-sterile compounding.
  • Professional and collaborative work environment.
  • Opportunity to take an active role in pharmacy operations and patient care.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
  • Flexible scheduling opportunities for the right candidate.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is dependable, clinically knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and genuinely enjoys helping patients. Experience in an independent pharmacy or compounding pharmacy is a strong plus, but we are also willing to consider a strong community pharmacist who is interested in developing compounding skills.

Apply today to join our growing independent pharmacy team.
