£140k - £180k + Equity

Very few engineering orgs are seriously trying to have AI agents write most of their code. Our client is one of them. They ship around 350 changes a week today and are designing for thousands, with 1,000 releases a day as the target. They need a Staff Engineer to shape how that platform is built 🧭

About the company

A fast-growing, AI-native B2B software scale-up in London, building agentic products for enterprise teams. Engineering is scaling hard, and the decisions the Platform team makes over the next year will define how the whole org builds software for years to come.

One role, two flavours

You’ll set direction across the platform, and the role can be anchored in whichever side fits your background:

🤖 AI Developer Experience: defining how coding agents work across the org, from brief to merged PR. That includes the architecture of a central, codebase-aware agent platform, how context, evals and guardrails work, and how token spend scales sensibly.

⚙️ Developer Experience & CI/CD: owning the strategy for a monorepo migration, independent pipelines and ephemeral environments, and designing a delivery system that can safely handle 1,000 releases a day with many agents working in parallel.

The best candidates will have deep experience in one and strong opinions about the other.

What you’ll do

• Set the technical direction for the platform and turn it into a roadmap the team can deliver
• Stay hands-on: lead the hardest builds yourself rather than just drawing the diagrams
• Make the big calls on architecture, tooling and build vs buy
• Influence how engineers across the org work, and bring them with you
• Raise the bar for the Platform team as it grows, through mentoring, reviews and hiring

What we’re looking for

• Staff-level engineer already operating that way, in TypeScript or Python
• Can point to metrics to demonstrate engineering productivity improvements based on your work.
• A track record of building platforms or tooling that changed how a whole engineering org works, with the numbers to show it
• Deep AWS experience (serverless, Lambda or EventBridge is a real plus; EKS is fine too)
• Real conviction about AI-driven development, backed by things you’ve actually built
• Product engineering roots are a plus. They want builders, not pure ops

Nice to have

• Led a large monorepo migration or a CI/CD overhaul at scale
• Rolled out AI coding tools or agents across a whole engineering org
