Staff Platform Engineer, Engineering Tools

What to Expect

The Engineering Tooling team is looking for a Staff Platform Engineer to own the reliability, scalability, and evolution of the tools that thousands of engineers depend on every day. You'll be the subject matter expert for our core engineering toolchain GitHub Enterprise, JFrog Artifactory, and the Atlassian products like JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket running on Linux infrastructure at scale. This is a high-ownership role: you'll architect, automate, and operate these systems, not just maintain them.

What You'll Do

• Administer the Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Fisheye, JSM) on Linux, including tuning, integrations, and high availability
• Own GitHub Enterprise on premises: organization and repository management, branch protection policies, GitHub Actions pipelines, security hardening, and CI/CD integration
• Manage JFrog Artifactory repositories end-to-end artifact lifecycle, replication, access controls, storage backends, and performance at scale
• Maintain Linux-based infrastructure for all engineering tools: system hardening, kernel tuning, filesystem management, and troubleshooting
• Design and execute zero-downtime upgrade and patch strategies; participate in on-call for critical incidents
• Drive monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and performance analysis across all managed systems
• Build integrations between GitHub, Artifactory, Atlassian tools, and CI/CD pipelines using Ansible, Python, Shell, and Go
• Develop runbooks, operational documentation, and self-service tooling that reduces toil for both the team and end users
• Administer Polarion on Linux, including workflows, OSLC plugin integration, templates, and permissions

What You'll Bring

• Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
• Deep, hands-on experience administering Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence), GitHub, Artifactory at org scale installation, configuration, upgrades, debugging, and custom integrations
• Prior experience on managing on-prem enterprise platforms like Atlassian tools, GitHub, Mattermost
• Strong Linux systems background: production hardening, enterprise authentication, storage and network troubleshooting
• Proficient scripting and programming in Python, Shell, and Go; comfortable writing Ansible playbooks for configuration management and automation
• Experience designing high-availability and disaster recovery architectures for stateful tools
• Track record of resolving cross-layer incidents spanning OS, network, storage, virtualization, and application tiers

Expected Compensation

$200,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
