Description of WorkThis position involves conducting psychological evaluations to assist the Court in making decisions regarding treatment interventions and sanctions for juveniles with delinquency charges. Evaluations are conducted in the office or at the Juvenile Detention Center. The evaluations include conducting a clinical interview, administering and interpreting appropriate testing, and preparing reports for the use of the Unified Family Court. Juveniles will be assessed in areas of personality, intelligence, academic functioning, and behavior. Consultation will be sought from court personnel, the Department of Juvenile Justice, the school system, and other community stakeholders. Collaboration will occur with the Parent Specialist and Community Resource Advocate to connect juveniles and their families with needed resources and services. This position also involves conducting evaluations with juveniles regarding their competency to proceed to trial. The psychologist must be available for related hearings on a consultative basis, including the presentation of formal testimony as an expert witness. The psychologist must keep current on developments within the mental health and forensic fields and may receive approval for associated conferences and continuing education. Work is reviewed by the Director of Behavioral Evaluations. Education, Experience, Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations· Ph.D. or Psy.D. In Psychology. Professionally licensed psychologist pursuant to Florida Statutes Chapter 490 is preferred; however, licensure-eligible candidates will also be considered. Licensure-eligible candidates can receive supervision to obtain their clinical hours. Must maintain licensure requirements once received. Training with children, adolescents, and families is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Skilled in maintaining a high level of professional and ethical demeanor and able to handle frequent contact with people involved in litigation and able to manage stressful situations.

· Ability to interact with judges, clerks of court, litigants, attorneys, law enforcement personnel, bailiffs, social services, witnesses, and the public to exchange information or to facilitate task completion.
