Staff Software Engineer - AI/Agent Engineer, Care Automation

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer - AI/Agent Engineer, Care Automation to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This role will focus on building and operating AI-driven automation solutions that improve customer care workflows and enhance the efficiency of support operations. You will work closely with engineering partners and business stakeholders to integrate LLM-based systems into the broader technology stack and deliver reliable, scalable agentic experiences. The position also calls for thoughtful evaluation of automation quality, latency, and cost so the team can continue to improve performance over time.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $193,000 – $309,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Design and operate AI-powered automations for customer care agents
• Integrate LLM-based systems with the care technology stack
• Prototype agentic solutions with human-in-the-loop checkpoints
• Write automated tests and participate in code reviews
• Monitor AI system performance and iterate based on feedback
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to automate care workflows
• Utilize AI tools to enhance development speed and quality

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in AI/ML systems
• Hands-on experience with large language models and agentic frameworks
• Proficient in backend programming languages like Python, Java, or Go
• Experience with event-driven architectures and enterprise system integrations
• Skilled at assessing automation accuracy, latency, and cost trade-offs
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
