Staff Software Engineer, Big Data Storage

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Big Data Storage to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space.

This role will shape the technical direction for large-scale data storage infrastructure that supports data lake capabilities across the business.

You will partner closely with stakeholders to design scalable storage solutions that enable big data workloads and machine learning/AI use cases.

The position also calls for strong technical leadership, mentorship, and engagement with open source communities to solve complex scaling challenges.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $177,185 – $364,795 annually

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and long-term roadmap for data lake storage
• Collaborate with stakeholders to architect data lake storage technologies for big data and ML/AI
• Drive engagement with open source communities to address scaling challenges
• Ensure technical quality and reliability of delivered solutions
• Guide and mentor team members in best practices for system design and development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of management experience or 3+ years of tech lead experience on a 5+ person team
• 8+ years of experience designing large-scale distributed systems
• Deep knowledge of building distributed systems
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
• Proficiency in people development
