Staff Software Engineer, Lineside MES System

What to Expect

Responsible for building the tier-1 software used across all our factories to manufacture Model Y, Optimus, Cybercab, Megapack, and more, the Factory Software looking for a Staff-level Software Sngineer with deep experience in server-side and backend development.

What You'll Do

• Lead end-to-end projects, from gathering requirements and architectural design through implementation, testing, and production deployment
• Deliver high-quality, maintainable code that addresses real-world manufacturing challenges
• Mentor engineers and uphold global standards of excellence in software craftsmanship
• Prioritize robust, production-critical systems with strong validation, monitoring, and support mechanisms
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain
• Participate in on-call rotations (no more than once every two months)
• Direct interaction and communication with stakeholders to gather and define requirements, scope and implementation

What You'll Bring

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience (8+ years preferred)
• Preferred professional experience with Go
• Proven experience implementing large-scale projects in languages like Go, Java, C++, Rust, or similar
• Very strong understanding of backend development fundamentals, including SQL databases, networking, and security
• Comfortable with frontend technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) and at least one modern framework (e.g., React, Angular, Svelte) for full-stack integration (1-2 years of recent experience)
• Proficiency in rigorous software development practices, including version control, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives from concept to production

Expected Compensation

$200,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
