Staff Software Engineer , Observability

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer Observability to join the team of a leader in the Media space. This role will lead technical initiatives focused on scalable systems, platform reliability, and meaningful business transformation. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Media environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $217,000 – $303,900 annually

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to build and maintain the company’s infrastructure platform
• Enhance the availability, scalability, and efficiency of observability components
• Provide feedback on the technical direction of eventing at the company
• Automate processes within the event-driven development workflow
• Share on-call duties while managing system reliability
• Contribute to upstream developments of open source tools utilized at the company

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing internet-scale software, preferably in infrastructure
• Familiarity with distributed systems development; knowledge of tools like Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana is a plus
• Experience with Kubernetes or similar distributed systems; controller/operator development is highly desirable
• Strong troubleshooting skills in both systems and software practices
• Demonstrated ability to engineer large systems and proactively oversee projects
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within a team
