Staff System Engineer

Client:

Our client is seeking an experienced Staff Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join their Platform Engineering team. This is a senior hands-on role focused on building scalable automation platforms, Infrastructure-as-Code solutions and developer tooling across hybrid cloud environments.

Role:

Staff Infrastructure Automation Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop infrastructure automation platforms using Python, Terraform and Ansible.
• Build reusable Infrastructure-as-Code modules and self-service infrastructure solutions.
• Develop API-driven automation and orchestration across cloud and virtualisation platforms.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and implement GitOps and automated compliance workflows.
• Automate provisioning and lifecycle management across Nutanix, VMware and KVM environments.
• Support hybrid cloud automation across AWS and Azure.
• Establish engineering best practices and provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers.

Requirements:

• 5–8 years' experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Automation or DevOps.
• Strong Python development skills.
• Expert-level Terraform and strong Ansible experience.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, APIs, Git, CI/CD and GitOps.
• Experience automating at least two of the following: Nutanix AHV/Prism/AOS, VMware vSphere/ESXi or KVM/QEMU.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, networking and hybrid cloud environments.
• Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes, internal developer platforms, Python web frameworks, observability or policy-as-code would be advantageous.
