Job Summary

We're hiring a Staff Systems Engineer to lead the development of advanced motor controls, inverter systems, and power electronics for high-performance testing and simulation applications. You'll take ownership of controls and inverter architecture, working alongside a Motor Systems Architect to bring innovative electric power solutions from concept through implementation.

This role goes beyond technical execution. You'll make critical engineering decisions, guide a multidisciplinary team, and help shape future electric power technologies while ensuring designs meet customer requirements, performance targets, and project goals.

What You'll Do

• Own the design and architecture of inverter systems, motor controllers, and power electronics, including gate drives, thermal management, and control hardware, while working closely with the Motor Systems Architect.
• Lead controls development across electric power systems, including current/torque control, motion control, embedded real-time software, and functional safety, ensuring seamless integration with motor designs.
• Partner with engineering, finance, and management teams to define system requirements, lead technical proposals, evaluate design trade-offs, and develop solutions that meet customer expectations, performance targets, budgets, and timelines.
• Shape future technologies by identifying market needs, developing technology roadmaps, documenting system requirements, and conducting technical assessments to guide product development.
• Support system installation and customer transition activities, including technical assistance and operator training when required.
• Directly supervise and develop a multidisciplinary team of electrical, controls, and test engineers, setting priorities, managing performance, and ensuring successful project execution.

What You'll Bring

• Educational background in Computer Science, Controls Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience, ideally 10–15 years.
• Proven experience leading the technical development of an electrical, controls, or software project from start to finish.
• Strong background in control systems, preferably involving electric motors and motor control applications.
• Hands-on experience with embedded software or firmware.
• Knowledge of power electronics, inverter design, motor control algorithms, and electric actuation systems.
• Familiarity with engineering and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, dSPACE, or similar platforms.
• Strong communication and technical leadership skills, with experience mentoring or supervising engineers preferred.

We offer an annual salary of $120,000–$180,000 , based on experience and qualifications.
