What they need

We’ve been proudly serving Australian communities since 1914 and have grown to become a top 30-listed company on the ASX with a portfolio of iconic homegrown brands. At the heart of our continued success is over 115,000 team members working across the country, all contributing to bringing our customers smiles. You’ll not only get to see your work make a difference, you’ll be part of a team working together to help Australians eat and live better every day.

About the team

Procurement supplies solutions. Coles Group is a top 30-listed ASX company with diverse needs from thousands of suppliers. Our team specialises in reducing cost and risk across our supply base. We partner with all areas of the business to develop and execute sourcing and contracting strategies that innovatively deliver sustainable value to our customers.

About the role

As State Asset & Maintenance Manager for NSW and ACT, you’ll take ownership of facilities, asset management and maintenance outcomes across our store network. You’ll work closely with operational and State leads, technicians and our facilities management partners to keep stores safe, compliant and operating reliably for our teams and customers. As a key conduit, you’ll balance day-to-day responsiveness with proactive asset planning and continuous improvement. You will also:

  • Lead planned and reactive maintenance across NSW and ACT, delivering safe, reliable and compliant store environments.
  • Partner with State, regional and store leaders to resolve priorities, lift service outcomes and improve asset performance.
  • Drive performance of the facilities management partner and specialist providers against KPIs, SLAs, budgets and contractual commitments.
  • Use asset condition, reliability and maintenance insights to reduce recurring issues and shape lifecycle, renewal and replacement plans.
  • Maintain a strong store presence across NSW and ACT, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, service quality and the store experience.
  • Lead critical maintenance incidents and recovery, ensuring clear communication, timely escalation and effective resolution.
  • Partner across Construction, Safety, Finance, Procurement and Property to support project handovers, compliance, budgets, capital planning and continuous improvement.

About you and your skills

You’re an experienced facilities leader with strong exposure to multi-site retail, operations and/or centre management or similarly complex asset portfolios, and you know how to build trusted relationships across operational and technical teams. Agile and responsive, you communicate clearly, work comfortably across competing priorities and stay focused on practical outcomes that keep stores operating safely and efficiently. You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Facilities, Building Services, Asset Management or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading maintenance and asset management across a large, multi-site portfolio, ideally within food retail or a similarly complex environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge across HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical and food production equipment.
  • Demonstrated capability in asset lifecycle, reliability, condition assessment, root cause analysis and replacement planning.
  • Commercial experience managing facilities partners, contractors, budgets, forecasts and OPEX and CAPEX decisions.
  • Strong stakeholder leadership, with the ability to use data and operational insight to influence decisions, manage incidents and drive continuous improvement.

What’s in it for you?

  • Flexible working options: We know that work is only one part of your life, so we actively encourage a positive work-life balance and provide hybrid working options to help you achieve it.
  • Office perks: Take advantage of our gym facility and fitness classes, free parking, BBQ area, mini-Coles supermarket, fooderie hub where you can sample new products before they hit the shelves, school holiday program and so much more when you come in.
