Steel Construction Project Manager

Project Manager Steel Construction Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in steel and construction to lead steel fabrication and erection projects from planning through closeout. The ideal candidate will manage project scope, schedule, budget and quality while coordinating subcontracts, engineering, and site teams to deliver safe, on time, and on budget results for structural steel projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project planning and execution for steel construction projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions to meet milestones.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts and change orders; report financial status to stakeholders.
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams including procurement, fabrication, engineering and site crews.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and quality requirements; conduct site visits and inspections to verify workmanship and progress.
• Review and interpret structural drawings, specifications and engineering documents; coordinate technical clarifications with engineering teams.
• Facilitate project meetings, prepare progress reports and maintain clear communication with clients, stakeholders and project team members using MS Teams and other collaboration tools.
• Use project controls and document management systems to maintain records, drawings, RFIs, submittals and as-built documentation (Bluebeam or similar).
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans; drive continuous improvement and lessons learned across projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Project Manager in construction with a focus on steel or structural projects for at least 2 of those years.
• Demonstrated experience working with steel fabrication and erection processes and understanding of structural drawings and specifications.
• Strong project management skills including schedule and budget management, change order control and risk mitigation.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and multi-disciplinary teams on-site and in the office.
• Proficiency with MS Office and collaboration tools such as MS Teams.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead project meetings and produce clear project documentation.
• Commitment to safety and quality with knowledge of relevant construction regulations and site safety practices.
• Nice to have: experience with Bluebeam, Tekla, and hands-on familiarity with steel construction detailing and structural engineering coordination.
