Aushield is looking for a reliable, safety-focused Steel Handler / Overhead Crane Operator to join our growing team.

We are a proudly WA-owned industrial coatings company specialising in abrasive blasting and protective coatings for the mining, defence, engineering and structural steel industries. With a strong reputation, an expanding operation and a new purpose-built facility on the horizon, we're investing in our people and our future.

THE ROLE

You'll play an important part in keeping our workshop running safely and efficiently, moving steel and fabricated components through our blasting and painting processes.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Operating overhead cranes to safely lift, move and position steel and fabricated components.
• Handling, loading and unloading steel in a busy industrial workshop.
• Coordinating the movement and staging of jobs through the facility.
• Working closely with our painters, blasters and supervisors to keep jobs moving.
• Ensuring materials are stored, handled and positioned safely.
• Following workplace health and safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organised work area.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're after someone who knows their way around steel, understands the importance of safe lifting practices and takes pride in doing a job properly.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience in steel handling, steel fabrication, industrial workshops or a similar environment.
• Experience operating overhead cranes and safely moving large or awkward loads.
• A strong understanding of workplace health and safety.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• A reliable attitude, good work ethic and willingness to get involved.
• The ability to work in a physically demanding industrial environment.
• A current forklift license and dogging or rigging qualifications will be advantageous.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who turns up, works safely, looks after equipment and takes pride in being part of a team.
