The Steel Structure Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and fitting structural steel components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The role requires strong AutoCAD skills, proficiency in reading and understanding fabrication drawings, operating fabrication equipment, and ensuring that all work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and interpret structural steel and fabrication drawings.
• Use AutoCAD to read, review, modify, and prepare fabrication drawings as required.
• Measure, mark, cut, drill, and prepare steel members according to drawings and specifications.
• Assemble structural steel components using approved fabrication methods.
• Operate fabrication machinery such as cutting machines, drilling machines, grinders, and other workshop equipment.
• Perform fit-up activities before welding and ensure proper alignment and dimensions of components.
• Check fabricated parts against AutoCAD drawings for dimensional accuracy and quality compliance.
• Coordinate with welders, supervisors, engineers, and quality inspectors to complete fabrication work efficiently.
• Identify and report drawing discrepancies, material shortages, equipment issues, or non-conformities to the supervisor.
• Maintain tools and equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in AutoCAD is required.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret structural steel and fabrication drawings is required.
• Good understanding of steel fabrication and workshop processes.
• Ability to accurately measure and work with steel
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and blueprints.
