About the Role

As a STEM Instructor, you will lead engaging after-school enrichment classes for students in grades K-8. You'll introduce students to exciting STEM concepts through hands-on activities, projects, experiments, and interactive lessons that encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Our STEM programs may include coding, robotics, mathematics, science explorations, game design, and other hands-on STEM activities. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to share their passion for STEM in a fun and supportive learning environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Inspire Curiosity: Lead engaging, hands-on STEM activities that encourage students to explore, ask questions, and think creatively.
  • Teach STEM Concepts: Introduce students to age-appropriate STEM concepts, from foundational skills to more advanced topics, based on the program and student needs.
  • Explore Technology: Teach and support STEM programs that may include Python, Scratch, robotics, LEGO robotics, game design, mathematics, science explorations, and more.
  • Encourage Problem-Solving: Help students develop critical-thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills through projects and interactive activities.
  • Create a Positive Environment: Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom where students feel comfortable experimenting, asking questions, and learning from mistakes.
  • Teach with Flexibility: Follow BAM! curriculum while adapting activities and instruction to meet the needs and learning styles of different student groups.
  • Manage the Classroom: Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment while effectively managing student behavior.
  • Be a Positive Role Model: Encourage curiosity, confidence, collaboration, and a love of learning throughout each class.

What We're Looking For:

  • 1–2 years of experience or demonstrated knowledge in STEM subjects preferred.
  • A genuine interest in teaching and mentoring children.
  • Previous teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp, or youth-program experience is a plus.
  • Ability to confidently engage and manage groups of students in grades K-8.
  • Strong communication, patience, and positive classroom-management skills.
  • Passion for STEM, technology, science, mathematics, coding, robotics, or related fields.
  • Ability to lead hands-on, interactive, and age-appropriate activities.
  • Reliable transportation to the assigned school location.
  • Must possess a current, government issued photo identification, such as a valid driver’s license or state ID, and have dependable transportation to travel to assigned program locations as needed.
  • Ability to successfully complete a required criminal background check.
  • Willingness to complete required training.
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 20–50 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.
