Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) – Travel Contract

Location: Ohio State University Hospital – Doan, Columbus, OH
Pay Range: $1300 to $1,450 per week (gross)
Contract: 13 weeks
Start Date: November 2, 2026
Shift: Days, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Experience: 2+ years preferred

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) for a 13-week travel assignment at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. The ideal candidate will have experience processing surgical instruments and medical equipment in a busy teaching hospital and trauma center.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
• Process surgical trays for trauma, orthopedic, cardiac, and general surgery.
• Operate steam sterilizers, Sterrad systems, and high-level disinfection equipment.
• Reprocess flexible endoscopes and specialized surgical instruments.
• Maintain accurate instrument tracking and documentation using Censitrac.
• Ensure proper packaging, labeling, storage, and distribution of sterile supplies.
• Coordinate with operating room teams and follow infection prevention and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of sterile processing experience.
• Previous teaching hospital experience required.
• Level II trauma hospital experience required; Level I preferred.
• Medivator experience required.
• CRCST (HSPA/IAHCSMM) or CBSPD certification accepted.
• Censitrac and instrument assembly experience.
• Ability to float between OSU locations as needed.
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility.

Additional Information

• Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions only.
• COVID-19 vaccination not required.
• Weekend shift options may be available for candidates who can meet the required schedule.
• Previous OSU permanent staff and ineligible returning OSU.
