STEWARD (SABAHANS)

The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and hospitality standards onboard the vessel. The role includes cleaning accommodation areas, cabins, mess rooms, and common facilities, assisting with meal service, and supporting the Cook with galley-related duties when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in crew cabins, officers' cabins, mess rooms, lounges, corridors, and common areas.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, toilets, showers, and other accommodation facilities.
• Assist with setting tables, serving meals, and clearing dining areas.
• Support the Ship's Cook with basic galley duties, dishwashing, and kitchen cleaning when required.
• Ensure that dining areas are properly arranged and ready for meal services.
• Handle laundry, linen changes, and distribution of clean towels and bedding as assigned.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and report shortages to the responsible officer.
• Maintain proper storage and safe use of cleaning materials and equipment.
• Follow onboard hygiene, sanitation, and waste management procedures.
• Assist with receiving and storing provisions when assigned.
• Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or unsafe conditions to the responsible officer.
• Follow company policies, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and onboard safety procedures.
• Maintain professional conduct and provide courteous service to officers and crew.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience as a Steward on ships or offshore vessels is preferred.
• Valid STCW certificates appropriate to the assigned duties.
• Valid passport, Seafarer's Book/CDC, and medical fitness certificate.
• Good knowledge of housekeeping, cleaning, sanitation, and food hygiene practices.
• Ability to assist with meal service and basic galley duties.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with a multinational crew.
• Physically fit and able to work in a marine environment.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain high standards of cleanliness and service.
• All mandatory certificates and travel documents must be valid.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience on Cable Lay Vessels (CLV), offshore construction vessels, or other offshore vessels.
• Experience in shipboard housekeeping, mess room service, and accommodation maintenance.
• Familiarity with maritime hygiene and safety procedures.
