Stipend-Based Animal Care Program

We are seeking responsible and motivated individuals interested in participating in an animal care and husbandry program in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain practical experience while supporting daily animal care activities, including feeding, watering, enclosure maintenance, sanitation, observation, and general husbandry.

This is a volunteer program that provides a stipend, subject to the participant’s eligibility category, program requirements, and applicable annual limits.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily feeding and watering routines.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining animal enclosures.
• Support general animal husbandry and welfare activities.
• Assist with maintaining clean and safe animal care areas.
• Observe and report changes in animal behavior or condition.
• Follow established animal care, sanitation, safety, and handling procedures.
• Work cooperatively with the animal care team.

Program Stipend

Participants may qualify for an annual stipend based on their educational status and program category.

Requirements

• Must be a resident of Carolina, Puerto Rico, or the surrounding area.
• Genuine interest in animal care and welfare.
• Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
• Willingness to learn and follow established procedures.
• Ability to perform physical activities associated with animal care and facility maintenance.
• Previous experience with animals is welcome but not required.
• Experience or education in animal care, veterinary medicine, agriculture, zoology, or related fields is a plus.

Work Environment

This is an on-site animal care opportunity in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Activities may take place outdoors and may include cleaning animal areas, handling feed and supplies, and working around various animal species.

Participants should be comfortable working in an active animal care environment and committed to maintaining high standards of animal welfare, safety, and sanitation.
