Stone Foreman

A Stone Foreman leads on-site stonemasonry and installation crews to build, clad, and restore natural and manufactured stone structures.

• Role Type: Supervisory / On-Site Leadership
• Core Goal: Translate architectural drawings and stone layout plans into finished, high-quality stonework on schedule and safely.
• Direct Reports: Stonemasons, marble/stone fixers, general laborers, and specialized subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Crew Supervision & Allocation: Assign daily tasks, manage manpower, monitor productivity, and coordinate schedules for site workers. [1, 2, 3]
• Blueprint & Cut-List Interpretation: Read architectural shop drawings, stone layout plans, elevation drawings, and material cut-lists. [1, 2]
• Quality Control & Craftsmanship: Oversee precision stone cutting, shaping, dry cladding, wet methodology, jointing, alignment, book-matching, and surface polishing (marble, granite, travertine, limestone, or porcelain). [1, 2]
• Site Coordination: Liaise with main contractors, project managers, consultants, and stone factories to track material deliveries and resolve site conflicts.
• Safety & Compliance (HSE): Enforce strict job-site safety rules, conduct daily toolbox talks, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and heavy lifting gear.
• Progress Reporting: Track daily/weekly site output, monitor material usage, and report milestones or delays to senior management.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Typically 5 to 7+ years of hands-on experience in stonemasonry, marble installation, or facade cladding, including prior leadership or lead-hand experience.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with natural stone types (marble, granite, travertine), adhesives, mortar mixes, dry-fix anchor systems, and stone-cutting/polishing tools.
• Reading Plans: Proficiency in reading technical/architectural drawings and CAD layouts.
• Physical & Field Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in demanding weather conditions, stand for long hours, and oversee heavy lifting.
• Licenses/Certificates: Valid local driver's license holders have more priority (e.g., UAE driving license often required for regional mobility) and relevant trade certifications or safety training (like OSHA).
