Job Type: Independent Contractor / Subcontractor (1099)
Compensation: Negotiable per-square-foot installation rate, based on experience, qualifications, and scope of work.
Job Overview
Magma Granite & Marble is seeking an experienced, skilled, and dependable stone countertop installation subcontractor to perform residential and commercial installations throughout Ocala and surrounding areas.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of professional stone installation experience, possess the necessary equipment and transportation, maintain all required insurance coverage, and demonstrate exceptional workmanship and professionalism.
This is a subcontractor opportunity with compensation based on a negotiated per-square-foot installation rate, determined by experience, qualifications, and the complexity of the work. Additional compensation for specialty installations or services may be negotiated separately.
We are looking to establish a reliable, long-term working relationship with a qualified installer who can consistently deliver high-quality results.
Responsibilities
- Professionally install natural and engineered stone surfaces, including granite, marble, quartz, quartzite, and other applicable materials.
- Perform installations including, but not limited to, countertops, full-height backsplashes, bar tops, mitered waterfall edges, drop-in and undermount sinks, wall panels, shower walls, desks, and other custom applications.
- Safely transport stone materials to installation locations using your own properly equipped truck and trailer.
- Supply and maintain all necessary installation tools and equipment, including drills, saws, grinders, polishing equipment, appropriate blades, bits, and other specialty tools.
- Provide standard installation supplies, including adhesives, silicone, caulking, sealers, shims, and other necessary consumables.
- Perform removal of existing countertops or materials when included in the agreed scope of work.
- Inspect materials and jobsite conditions before beginning installation and promptly communicate any discrepancies, damage, or potential issues.
- Perform field measurements and provide accurate information for pieces requiring adjustments, modifications, or refabrication.
- Ensure all installations meet company quality expectations, project specifications, and applicable safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including proper cleanup upon completion.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with our office, fabrication team, customers, builders, and other trades.
- Provide excellent customer service while representing Magma Granite & Marble on assigned projects.
- Maintain a smartphone capable of accessing company-provided scheduling and job-management software.
- Submit clear photographs documenting jobsite conditions before installation, installation progress or issues as applicable, and completed work before leaving the jobsite.
- Promptly report installation complications, property damage, missing materials, or other concerns affecting job completion.
- Maintain dependable availability and fulfill accepted installation appointments as scheduled.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum three years of professional stone countertop installation experience required.
- Demonstrated proficiency installing granite, marble, quartz, quartzite, and other stone surfaces.
- Experience with complex installations, including mitered waterfalls, full-height backsplashes, and specialty applications, strongly preferred.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret installation drawings, measurements, and project specifications.
- Proficiency with stone installation tools, equipment, adhesives, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to safely handle, transport, and install heavy stone materials.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Reliable communication, professional appearance, and commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Previous residential remodeling and commercial installation experience preferred.
Mandatory Subcontractor Requirements
All subcontractors must meet the following requirements before being assigned work:
Insurance & Compliance
- Maintain active General Liability insurance and provide a current Certificate of Insurance (COI).
- Maintain applicable Workers’ Compensation insurance coverage or provide valid, verifiable Workers’ Compensation exemptions as permitted by Florida law.
- All employees, helpers, and other individuals working under the subcontractor must be appropriately covered by Workers’ Compensation insurance or possess their own valid exemption where legally permitted.
- Provide supporting insurance and exemption documentation for all individuals performing work, as applicable.
- Maintain appropriate commercial or business-use vehicle insurance for vehicles used in connection with installation services.
- Maintain all required insurance coverage and documentation throughout the subcontracting relationship.
Transportation, Tools & Equipment
- Own or otherwise independently provide a reliable truck and trailer suitable for safely transporting stone countertops and materials.
- Supply all necessary professional installation tools, equipment, and standard installation consumables.
- Provide sufficient qualified labor and assistance to safely complete accepted installations.
Scheduling & Documentation
- Maintain consistent availability for scheduled installation projects.
- Arrive at accepted appointments on time and communicate scheduling concerns promptly.
- Use a smartphone to access scheduling information and submit required installation documentation.
- Provide clear before-and-after photographs for every installation, along with photographs of any damage, discrepancies, or additional issues requiring documentation.
Compensation
Negotiable per-square-foot installation rate.
Rates will be established based on experience, demonstrated workmanship, qualifications, and the scope and complexity of assigned projects.
Additional rates for specialty work, removals, or other agreed services may be negotiated separately.
This is an independent subcontractor opportunity (1099), not a W-2 employee position. Subcontractors are responsible for their own business operations, transportation, equipment, labor, insurance, and applicable taxes.

Qualified applicants are encouraged to submit the following:
- Summary of professional stone installation experience.
- Photographs or a portfolio of completed installations.
