Position Overview

The Senior Storage & Backup Engineer will be responsible for the administration, support, monitoring, optimization, and operational management of enterprise storage and backup infrastructure across Client Group entities.

The role is responsible for ensuring data availability, integrity, storage performance, backup reliability, capacity management, and disaster recovery readiness across corporate and industrial environments operating under the ITSS Managed Services model.

The engineer will provide L3 technical support for enterprise SAN/NAS storage, backup systems, SAN switches, tape libraries, archiving, recovery, and disaster recovery infrastructure .

Key Responsibilities

1. Storage Administration

• Administer, configure, monitor, and maintain enterprise SAN and NAS storage environments .
• Manage enterprise storage platforms including Huawei OceanStor Dorado, Huawei OceanProtect, HPE Alletra , and associated storage infrastructure.
• Manage and troubleshoot Brocade SAN switches , zoning, Fibre Channel connectivity, and storage access.
• Perform regular storage health checks and monitor capacity, utilization, availability, and performance.
• Perform storage provisioning, allocation, expansion, and configuration activities.
• Conduct proactive capacity planning and performance optimization .
• Troubleshoot storage performance and connectivity issues.
• Coordinate with OEM/vendor support teams for complex hardware and software issues.

2. Backup & Recovery Operations

• Administer and support enterprise backup infrastructure using Veeam .
• Configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and validate scheduled backup jobs.
• Monitor backup success/failure and resolve backup-related issues.
• Manage backup policies, job schedules, retention, and recovery requirements.
• Perform and support data restoration and recovery activities.
• Support enterprise backup appliances and repositories.
• Maintain backup and recovery documentation and operational records.

3. Tape Library & Archiving Operations

• Administer and support HPE StoreEver MSL3040 Tape Libraries .
• Manage tape backup, retention, rotation, and archiving requirements.
• Coordinate offsite tape movement, handling, sending, receiving, and recycling.
• Monitor tape library health, utilization, and operational status.
• Ensure tape management practices comply with organizational retention and recovery requirements.

4. SAN Administration

• Administer and support Brocade SAN Switch infrastructure .
• Perform SAN zoning and configuration activities.
• Monitor Fibre Channel connectivity and SAN performance.
• Troubleshoot host-to-storage connectivity issues.
• Support SAN switch configuration changes and expansion activities.
• Maintain SAN infrastructure documentation and configuration records.

5. Incident & Problem Management

• Provide L3 technical support for storage, SAN, backup, and recovery-related incidents.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across storage arrays, SAN switches, NAS, backup platforms, and tape libraries.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring and major infrastructure incidents.
• Identify permanent corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with vendors/OEM support teams for critical issues when required.
• Ensure incidents and service requests are resolved within agreed SLA requirements.

6. Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

• Support Disaster Recovery, DRaaS, and IaaS solutions provided by Client Holding.
• Ensure storage and backup infrastructure is ready to meet disaster recovery and business continuity requirements.
• Participate in DR testing and recovery validation activities.
• Validate availability and recoverability of critical backup data.
• Support recovery activities during planned DR exercises or actual disaster situations.
• Ensure compliance with ITSS continuity and recovery standards.

7. Governance, Security & Compliance

• Ensure storage and backup operations comply with ITSS governance, cybersecurity, audit, and operational requirements .
• Follow established security policies and infrastructure controls.
• Maintain accurate documentation covering architecture, configuration, operational procedures, and infrastructure changes.
• Support internal/external audit activities by providing required storage, backup, retention, and recovery records.
• Follow approved Change Management processes for production infrastructure changes.

8. Capacity & Performance Management

• Monitor storage capacity, utilization, performance, and growth.
• Perform proactive capacity forecasting and identify expansion requirements.
• Optimize storage utilization and performance.
• Identify potential infrastructure bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide regular storage capacity and utilization reports.

9. Continuous Improvement & Automation

• Identify opportunities to automate backup scheduling, monitoring, reporting, capacity management, and routine operational activities .
• Recommend improvements to enhance storage and backup resilience.
• Identify opportunities to reduce operational risks and improve infrastructure availability.
• Recommend optimization opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary infrastructure costs.
• Maintain operational dashboards and reports covering system health, backup status, capacity, failures, and availability.

• Ability to coordinate effectively with OEMs, vendors, infrastructure teams, application teams, and other technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in enterprise Managed Services environments is preferred.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline .

Experience

• Minimum 11 years of overall IT infrastructure experience , with strong hands-on experience in enterprise Storage & Backup administration .
• Significant experience supporting large-scale enterprise data center environments.
• Strong hands-on experience across SAN, NAS, enterprise storage, backup, tape libraries, and Disaster Recovery .
• Experience providing L3-level infrastructure support is preferred.
