Storage Engineer

We're looking for a Global Storage Engineer to join a team supporting large-scale storage environments used by engineering and high-performance computing (HPC) teams across multiple locations. The role sits at the heart of a complex technical estate, helping to ensure storage platforms remain reliable, scalable, and easy to operate.

This is a hands-on position where you'll have the opportunity to work across storage, automation, monitoring, cloud technologies, and modern operational tooling.

What you'll be doing

• Supporting and improving enterprise-scale storage platforms
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and drive long-term fixes
• Developing automation and tooling to reduce manual effort
• Building and maintaining infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible
• Creating Python-based tools to improve operational efficiency and visibility
• Enhancing monitoring, alerting, and observability across the platform
• Contributing to documentation, best practices, and knowledge sharing

What we're looking for

• Strong experience administering NetApp storage in production environments
• Linux administration experience, ideally within large-scale engineering or HPC environments
• Knowledge of file and object storage technologies
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or Ansible
• Ability to build automation and tooling using Python
• A background supporting critical production platforms

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• CI/CD and Git-based workflows
• AI, machine learning, or agent-based operational tooling
• OpenStack storage technologies including Cinder or Manila
• Identity management, access control, or security best practices

Working Policy

• Hybrid working places are in place for this role, with 2 days onsite (Cambridge) required each week.
