Store Assistant

Job Purpose

To manage the receipt, storage, issue and inventory control of raw materials, consumables, tools and finished goods required for production and project execution, ensuring proper stock availability, accurate records and minimum material wastage.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Material Receiving and Inspection

• Receive materials from suppliers as per purchase orders and delivery challans.
• Verify quantity, specifications and physical condition of materials received.
• Check materials such as plywood, MDF, particle board, laminates, veneers, timber, wooden battens, hardware, adhesives, paints and other consumables.
• Coordinate with the Purchase and Quality Departments regarding shortages, damages or incorrect materials.
• Prepare Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) and update inward registers.

B. Inventory and Stock Management

• Maintain accurate stock records in Excel or inventory software/ERP.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure timely availability of materials for production.
• Conduct regular physical stock verification and reconcile discrepancies.
• Identify slow-moving, excess, damaged and obsolete stock.
• Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels and inform the concerned department when replenishment is required.

C. Material Issuing and Distribution

• Issue materials to the Production Department against approved material requisitions.
• Issue materials according to the Bill of Materials (BOM) and production requirements.
• Maintain material issue registers and obtain authorized signatures.
• Track material consumption and report excess usage or wastage.
• Ensure proper accounting of returned, unused and surplus materials.

D. Storage and Material Handling

• Arrange materials systematically with proper identification and labelling.
• Store plywood, laminates, veneers, timber, hardware and chemicals in suitable conditions.
• Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) wherever applicable.
• Ensure safe stacking and handling of boards, timber, glass, hardware and other materials.
• Maintain cleanliness, housekeeping, fire safety and safe storage practices in the store.

E. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain inward, outward, stock transfer, return and material rejection records.
• Prepare daily or weekly stock reports as required.
• Maintain records of tools, consumables and production-related materials.
• Support monthly stock audits and physical verification.
• Submit stock shortage, excess stock and material consumption reports to the reporting manager.

F. Coordination

• Coordinate with Purchase, Production, PPC, Quality, Accounts and Project Departments.
• Confirm material availability according to production schedules.
• Follow up with the Purchase Department for pending material deliveries.
• Coordinate with Accounts for invoice and delivery challan verification.
• Support timely material planning to avoid production delays.

3. Required Skills and Qualifications

• PUC / Diploma / Degree in any relevant discipline; candidates with relevant storekeeping experience may also be considered.
• Experience in stores, inventory management or warehouse operations, preferably in a wood manufacturing or interior industry.
• Basic knowledge of plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, timber, furniture hardware and other wood-industry materials.
• Knowledge of Excel, inventory registers and ERP/store management software.
• Good organizational, coordination and record-keeping skills.
• Accuracy in stock counting and documentation.
• Ability to manage material movement and meet production deadlines.
• Honesty, discipline and attention to detail.

Pay: ₹22,000.00 - ₹27,000.00 per month
