Job Description

Mrakovic Fine Food Etobicoke is looking for a friendly, reliable, and hardworking Store Associate to join our team.

We are a specialty grocery and deli store offering high-quality meat products, fresh and frozen foods, bakery items, and European grocery products.

The ideal candidate is customer-focused, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Assist customers with product selection and answer questions about store products.
• Operate the cash register and process cash, debit, and credit card payments.
• Stock shelves, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Receive deliveries, unpack merchandise, and organize inventory.
• Monitor product expiration dates and ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO).
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked shelves and displays.
• Assist with packaging, labeling, and pricing products.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, checkout area, refrigerators, and workstations.
• Assist with daily opening and closing procedures.
• Support other team members with daily store operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a grocery store, supermarket, deli, or retail environment is preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, responsible, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Comfortable working around refrigerated and frozen products.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 kg when required.
• Willingness to follow food handling and workplace safety procedures.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
• Basic English communication skills are required.
• Previous experience with POS systems is an asset.
• Food Handler Certification is an asset but not required.
