Store Computer Repair Technician

The Computer Guy are the go-to tech hub in our community. We don’t just fix machines—we save the day. We are looking for a hands-on, high-energy Computer Repair Technician who loves technology, gets a thrill out of solving problems, and knows how to talk tech without making people feel lost.

Job Overview

• Role Type: Full-time
• Primary Focus: Hardware/software troubleshooting, component replacement, virus removal, and customer communication.
• Some local travel to Customer homes/Business Premises will be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & Triage: Inspect incoming desktops, laptops, and devices to pinpoint hardware or software failures.
• Hardware Repair & Upgrades: Replace faulty components like screens, keyboards, hard drives, RAM, power supplies, and motherboards.
• Custom PC builds – able to configure, build and test custom PC builds as required.
• Software & OS Services: Install, configure, and update operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and remove malware, spyware, and viruses.
• Data Recovery & Backup: Retrieve data from damaged or failing storage drives and perform system transfers.
• Customer Service: Explain technical issues to non-technical customers in plain language, provide repair quotes, and handle drop-offs and pick-ups.
• Store Operations: Maintain a clean bench workspace, manage service tickets, track inventory of parts, and assist with counter sales or point-of-sale (POS) systems when needed.

Qualifications & Skills

• Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Windows and macOS architectures, PC hardware assembly, BIOS/UEFI settings, and basic networking.
• Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA A+ Certification or vendor-specific credentials (Apple Certified Mac Technician, Dell, or Lenovo certifications).
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training in computer science or IT is a strong plus.
• Soft Skills: Patience, active listening, clear verbal/written communication, and problem-solving under tight turnaround times.
• Quality focus: maintain a clean and safe workbench and test every single fix before it leaves the store.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift computer equipment (up to 30 lbs) and sit or stand at a repair bench for extended periods.
• Transportation – Must have a reliable car and a valid driver’s license. Milage will be reimbursed for all service calls.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
