What they need

ABOUT GENTLE REBEL SDN BHD

Gentle Rebel Sdn Bhd is a Kuala Lumpur-based food and beverage company on a mission to redefine how Malaysians — and the world — experience the drinks they love most. Built on almost 100 years of tea heritage and driven by a restless spirit of innovation, we own and operate two distinct, award-winning brands, Beca Tea and Teh Tarik Nation.

This position is for Teh Tarik Nation's new outlet (opening in October 2026) at AEON Mall Shah Alam:

Teh Tarik Nation

Our fast-growing brand.

On a bold mission to “Make Teh Tarik Great Again,” Teh Tarik Nation is Malaysia's Milk Tea Specialist. We are not another kopitiam. Just as Thailand has its Thai milk tea, China its New Style Chinese Milk Tea, and Taiwan gave the world boba, Malaysia's answer is Teh Tarik. And we are here to own it. From the iconic TTN™ Slushy Tarik to a constantly growing menu of inventive, fun drinks, TTN fuses over 80 years of Teh Tarik blending heritage with fearless innovation — all powered by a Central Kitchen at the heart of our operations.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a hands-on, guest-obsessed Store Manager to lead Teh Tarik Nation's newest outlet at AEON Mall Shah Alam, opening October 2026. You will be the outlet's first-ever Store Manager — responsible for building the team, setting the standards, and creating the guest experience that defines this store from day one.

Teh Tarik Nation is growing fast — from a single flagship outlet to multi-outlet operations, with more openings on the way. As Store Manager, you are the face of the brand on the ground: the person guests remember, the leader your team looks to, and the standard-bearer for everything that makes TTN different from just another kopitiam or bubble tea counter.

If you have cut your teeth in a fast-paced, high-volume F&B environment; if you know what it takes to run a tight shift, hit your numbers and build a team that genuinely enjoys coming to work; and if you want the ownership and visibility that comes with opening a brand-new store — this role was made for you.

You will report to the Area Manager and work closely with the Central Kitchen, HQ and brand teams as Teh Tarik Nation continues its rapid expansion across the Klang Valley and beyond.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

1.  Store Operations & Standards

  • Own the day-to-day running of the outlet — opening and closing procedures, shift handovers, and floor management during peak and off-peak hours.

  • Ensure the store consistently meets Teh Tarik Nation's brand standards for product quality, presentation, speed of service and cleanliness.

  • Monitor queue times, service flow and station productivity, making real-time adjustments to staffing and workflow to keep service tight.

  • Maintain all outlet equipment — brewing, blending and POS systems — reporting faults promptly and coordinating repairs to avoid downtime.

  • Ensure full compliance with mall and landlord operating requirements, including operating hours, signage and common area guidelines set by AEON.

2.  Sales & Business Performance

  • Take ownership of the outlet's sales targets, daily/weekly/monthly KPIs and P&L performance.

  • Track and analyse sales data, product mix and peak/off-peak trends to identify opportunities to grow revenue and basket size.

  • Plan and execute in-store promotions, upsizing and cross-selling initiatives in line with brand campaigns.

  • Manage controllable costs at the outlet level — manpower hours, wastage, utilities and consumables — to protect store profitability.

  • Prepare and report daily sales, cash and operational summaries to the Area Manager.

3.  Team Leadership & People Development

  • Recruit, onboard and train outlet crew and shift leaders, building a strong bench ahead of the store's opening and beyond.

  • Create weekly manpower rosters that balance service needs, labour cost targets and staff wellbeing.

  • Coach, motivate and manage the performance of frontline staff, fostering a culture of pride, accountability and hospitality.

  • Handle staff discipline, grievances and conflict resolution fairly and in line with company policy.

  • Identify and develop high-potential crew members into shift leaders and future Assistant Store Managers.

4.  Customer Experience & Brand Standards

  • Champion a guest-first culture, ensuring every customer interaction reflects Teh Tarik Nation's energy, warmth and hospitality.

  • Handle customer feedback and complaints on the ground promptly and professionally, escalating where necessary.

  • Ensure consistent execution of new product launches, seasonal menu items and promotional campaigns at the outlet.

  • Maintain outlet ambience, merchandising and visual standards in line with brand guidelines.

5.  Inventory, Stock & Supply Chain

  • Manage outlet-level inventory — ordering, receiving, stock counts and rotation — to avoid stockouts and minimise wastage.

  • Coordinate with the Central Kitchen and logistics team to ensure timely and accurate replenishment of stock.

  • Conduct regular stock takes and reconcile variances, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

  • Ensure proper storage, labelling and handling of raw materials and finished goods in accordance with food safety standards.

6.  Food Safety, Hygiene & Compliance

  • Ensure the outlet operates in full compliance with HACCP principles, food handling regulations and local authority requirements.

  • Conduct daily hygiene and food safety checks, and lead by example on personal hygiene and grooming standards.

  • Maintain Halal compliance standards across all products and processes at the outlet.

  • Ensure all crew are trained and certified (e.g. Food Handler's Certificate) as required by law.

7.  New Store Opening (Pre-Opening & Launch)

  • Play a lead role in pre-opening preparations — recruitment, training, stock setup, equipment testing and mock service runs.

  • Work closely with HQ, the Central Kitchen and the project team to ensure the outlet is fully operational and standards-ready for opening day.

  • Help plan and execute the outlet's launch, working with the marketing team on opening promotions and generating buzz in the local community.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum SPM or Diploma in any field; a qualification in F&B, Hospitality or Business Management is an advantage.

  • At least 4–5 years of relevant working experience in the F&B/quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry, including at least 2 years in a Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager or Shift Manager capacity.

  • Proven track record managing outlet operations within a reputable, structured quick-service restaurant (QSR) or F&B chain environment is highly preferred.

  • Experience opening new outlets, or being part of a pioneer team, is a strong advantage.

  • Experience operating within a shopping mall environment is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Competent with POS systems, cash handling, cash reconciliation and daily sales reporting.

  • Strong grasp of manpower scheduling, labour cost management and shift planning.

  • Working knowledge of inventory management, stock control and wastage management.

  • Familiarity with HACCP, food safety and hygiene standards; Food Handler's Certificate preferred.

  • Basic understanding of store-level P&L and KPI management.

Mindset & Character

  • A natural floor leader who leads from the front, especially during peak hours.

  • Guest-obsessed — genuinely energised by creating a great experience for every customer.

  • A strong coach and motivator who brings out the best in a young, frontline team.

  • Calm under pressure, resourceful, and comfortable making decisions on the spot.

  • Entrepreneurial, with a genuine pride of ownership — you treat the outlet like it's your own.

  • Willing to work retail hours, including weekends, public holidays and peak periods.

Language

Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional languages (e.g. Mandarin, Tamil) are an advantage given the diverse customer base at AEON Mall Shah Alam.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

  • The rare opportunity to be the pioneer Store Manager of one of Teh Tarik Nation's newest outlets — and shape it from day one.

  • Clear career progression to Area Manager as Teh Tarik Nation continues its rapid multi-outlet expansion.

  • Performance-linked incentives on top of a competitive base salary.

  • Direct exposure to and support from HQ, the Central Kitchen and brand leadership.

  • The chance to be part of a fast-growing, homegrown Malaysian F&B brand on a mission to “Make Teh Tarik Great Again.”

  • A team that genuinely cares about what it makes — and about the people who make it happen.

Other offers great for you!
