Store Manager

Job Summary

Fashion Outlets of Chicago is seeking an experienced, motivated, and customer-focused Store Manager to oversee daily retail operations and lead a high-performing store team. The Store Manager will be responsible for sales performance, employee leadership, customer service, inventory control, merchandising, and overall store operations. The ideal candidate has strong retail management experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating an exceptional shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily store operations and ensure efficient, professional, and customer-focused service.
• Lead, train, coach, and motivate sales associates and store employees.
• Set daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals and monitor team performance.
• Analyze sales results, traffic, conversion, average transaction value, and other key performance indicators.
• Create employee schedules based on business needs, staffing levels, and employee availability.
• Conduct team meetings and communicate sales goals, promotions, policies, and operational updates.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve customer complaints or concerns professionally.
• Monitor POS operations, cash handling, returns, exchanges, discounts, and transaction accuracy.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels and oversee receiving, stockroom organization, transfers, and replenishment.
• Conduct inventory counts and investigate discrepancies, damaged merchandise, or missing products.
• Ensure merchandise is displayed according to company visual-merchandising standards.
• Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floors, fitting rooms, stockrooms, and customer areas.
• Support promotional campaigns, seasonal events, sales initiatives, and mall-wide activities.
• Monitor store expenses, supplies, labor costs, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, loss-prevention procedures, security standards, and workplace safety requirements.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and employee development.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, mall management, vendors, and company leadership.
• Identify opportunities to improve sales, customer satisfaction, team performance, and operational efficiency.
• Perform opening and closing procedures and ensure the store is properly secured.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in business, retail management, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous retail management, assistant management, or supervisory experience required.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to achieve sales goals and manage retail performance.
• Excellent customer-service and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with POS systems, inventory systems, scheduling, and cash management.
• Strong understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and loss prevention.
• Ability to analyze sales reports and key performance metrics.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced shopping environment.
• Strong attention to detail and professional appearance.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping periods.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Skills

• Experience managing a fashion, apparel, footwear, accessories, luxury, or outlet retail store.
• Knowledge of current fashion trends and visual merchandising.
• Strong consultative selling and upselling skills.
• Experience managing high-volume retail locations.
• Experience with employee scheduling and labor planning.
• Strong inventory management and loss-prevention knowledge.
• Multilingual communication skills are a plus.
• Strong coaching and employee-development abilities.
• Excellent conflict-resolution and guest-recovery skills.
• Passion for fashion, retail, sales, and customer experience.
