Store Manager

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Store Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a small but busy automotive retail and trade store. This is a full-time position, commencing late November, working Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday work as required.

 The role is responsible for driving sales performance, delivering exceptional customer service, overseeing workshop operations, and leading a high-performing team. As Store Manager, you will take ownership of store performance, ensuring operational excellence while fostering a positive and productive team culture.

 Working closely with both retail and trade customers, you will play a key role in growing sales, building strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring the store operates efficiently and safely. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by driving business growth while leading from the front in a hands-on environment.

The role:

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and managing all retail, trade and workshop operations.
• Driving sales growth through outstanding customer service and sales leadership.
• Managing customer enquiries, quotations and sales opportunities.
• Overseeing workshop scheduling and job management.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with trade and retail customers.
• Identifying local business development and marketing opportunities.
• Managing inventory, stock control, stocktakes and daily reconciliations.
• Ensuring high standards of store presentation, safety and operational efficiency.
• Recruiting, training, mentoring and performance managing team members.
• Monitoring and achieving sales, margin and operational KPIs.
• Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, policies and procedures.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Experience in automotive retail, automotive parts, or the battery industry, including battery fitting.
• Automotive store management experience.
• Strong leadership, sales, and customer service skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• A hands-on approach with the ability to lead from the front.
• Sound computer and administration skills.
• Experience managing trade accounts and driving business growth.
• A current C Class Driver's Licence.
• Forklift licence.
• Mechanical or Auto Electrical trade qualification.
