Apex Smoothies is a health-focused smoothie and juice bar located inside a premium fitness club in Seattle. We serve high-quality smoothies, protein shakes, specialty coffee, and other beverages designed to support active lifestyles.

We're looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, and experienced Store Manager to take ownership of our daily store operations while working hands-on alongside our team.

This is a working management position that combines beverage preparation, customer service, staff leadership, and operational oversight. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys making great drinks, takes initiative, can confidently lead a small team, and is comfortable managing day-to-day operations independently.

As Store Manager, you'll be the primary point of contact for store operations, helping maintain our standards, support our team, and ensure Apex Smoothies continues delivering an exceptional experience to every customer.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all store activities, including sales, customer service, inventory management, and staff scheduling.
• Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members to build a high-performing retail team.
• Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
• Manage inventory control, stock replenishment, and merchandising to optimize product presentation and availability.
• Oversee payroll processing, cash handling procedures, and bookkeeping tasks to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct regular training sessions for staff on product knowledge, sales techniques, POS systems, and customer service standards.
• Monitor store performance through sales data analysis, manage budgets, and adjust operational plans accordingly.

Store Leadership & Operations

• Take ownership of daily store operations, ensuring the location runs efficiently and consistently.
• Manage opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, equipment checks, and store readiness.
• Create and maintain employee schedules, coordinate shift coverage, and manage last-minute staffing needs.
• Train, coach, and support part-time team members to maintain high performance and service standards.
• Monitor employee attendance, performance, and adherence to company policies.
• Oversee inventory management, including tracking stock levels, placing routine supply orders, and minimizing waste.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, equipment care, and compliance with food safety requirements.
• Manage POS transactions, cash handling, and daily reconciliation procedures.
• Resolve customer concerns and maintain positive relationships with gym members and facility staff.
• Monitor daily sales performance and support initiatives to increase customer satisfaction and repeat business.
• Provide regular operational updates to ownership, including staffing, inventory, sales, and any issues requiring attention.
• Identify opportunities to improve store efficiency, customer experience, and overall performance.

Smoothie, Coffee & Beverage Preparation

• Prepare and serve smoothies, protein shakes, specialty coffee beverages, and light food items with precision and care.
• Prepare espresso-based beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, and other specialty coffee drinks.
• Operate and maintain commercial espresso machines and grinders, including basic espresso calibration and routine cleaning.
• Maintain consistency in drink recipes, portions, presentation, and product quality.
• Assist customers with menu selections, ingredient questions, and recommendations.
• Operate Square POS or similar point-of-sale systems efficiently.
• Maintain properly stocked and organized beverage preparation stations.
• Follow established recipes, food handling procedures, and sanitation standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a café, coffee shop, smoothie bar, juice bar, or similar food-service environment.
• Strong hands-on experience preparing espresso-based beverages using commercial espresso equipment.
• Prior supervisory, shift lead, or store management experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team, coordinate schedules, and handle operational responsibilities independently.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with inventory management, ordering, and waste control preferred.
• Familiarity with Square POS or similar systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Valid Washington State Food Worker Card, or willingness to obtain one before beginning food handling duties.
• Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
• Interest in health, fitness, nutrition, and wellness is highly desirable.
• Reliable, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and peak gym hours.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting routine inventory and supplies, with or without reasonable accommodation.
