Store Manager – Art Supply & Gift Retail

We're looking for an experienced Store Manager to run a Manhattan-based art-supply and gift store. This role holds full P&L accountability for the location, overseeing daily operations, sales, team growth, inventory, visual merchandising, and our custom-framing department. Our shoppers range from artists and students to educators and gift-buyers across NYC.

What You'll Do

• Take ownership of the store's full P&L — driving sales, profitability, and shrink reduction — while reviewing weekly/monthly metrics and implementing fixes to stay on target.
• Run all facets of store operations: opening/closing routines, safety compliance, cash handling, and loss prevention.
• Oversee the complete inventory cycle — receiving, restocking, cycle counts, and accuracy checks — to keep shrink low.
• Guide the custom-framing team's workflow, quality, and customer consultations.
• Uphold visual merchandising standards, keeping the sales floor clean, organized, and on-brand.
• Handle the full employee lifecycle — recruiting, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and reviews — for associates, keyholders, and shift leads, while fostering an inclusive team culture that supports retention.
• Step in on escalated customer concerns and ensure top-tier service for creative and gift shoppers.
• Adapt to a flexible retail schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

What You'll Need

• 1+ years as a Store Manager/General Manager in brick-and-mortar specialty retail.
• Direct, hands-on experience owning a store's P&L.
• A track record of hiring, training, and coaching retail teams.
• Working knowledge of POS systems, inventory workflows, and shrink control.
• Flexibility for retail hours as business demands.
• A reliable commute to Manhattan, NY.

• Background in art supplies, framing, stationery, or gift retail.
• Exposure to custom-framing operations and client consultations.
• Experience running high-volume NYC retail locations.
• A genuine interest in art, craft supplies, stationery, or creative gifts.
• Local artist network.
• Experience hosting workshops and local community events.
