Store Supervisor – Part Time

Cooks Beach & Hahei General Stores are independently owned convenience stores located in the heart of the Coromandel. We serve our local communities year-round and experience significant seasonal tourism demand.

These are fast-paced retail environments — particularly through summer — and we are looking for a capable, part-time Store Supervisor to join our team.

The Role

This is a practical, hands-on role focused on the day-to-day running of the store.

During shoulder seasons and summer, you will work alongside & supervise casual team members and ensure the day runs smoothly. In quieter winter months, you may operate the store independently from open to close.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing efficient, high-quality customer service
• Operating POS systems and handling transactions
• Ordering stock and liaising with suppliers
• Merchandising and maintaining store presentation
• Receiving and handling stock deliveries
• Assisting with stock control and rotation
• Supervising and guiding casual staff when rostered together
• Responding confidently to customer queries

This role is physically demanding. You will be on your feet for most of the day, lifting stock, moving quickly between tasks and maintaining high standards throughout the store.

Experience Required

• Previous retail experience (grocery or convenience preferred)
• Experience operating POS systems
• Proficient in using computers
• Experience supervising or guiding other staff is advantageous

Availability

This is a part-time position, with increased hours available in the summer period.

You must be available to work weekends, public holidays and peak summer periods, as this is when our business is at its busiest.

Location

The role will be based predominantly at either Cooks Beach or Hahei. Placement will be discussed with the successful applicant.
