What they need
Step Up's VISTA project is organized around three strategic pillars: Resource Innovation, Scalable Reach, and Brand Prominence. Each pillar addresses a specific organizational barrier limiting Step Up's ability to reach low-income girls and young women at scale: insufficient fundraising infrastructure, insufficient community infrastructure to enter new markets, and insufficient visibility to ensure young people in those markets know Step Up exists. The project will seek to build the organizational capacity, community infrastructure, and fundraising systems needed to expand Step Up's programming into new markets, develop a partnership model for young women and teen girls, schools and districts and elevate Step Up's national visibility to ensure young people in low-income communities across the country can access the mentorship and career readiness resources they need to move out of poverty and into economic self-sufficiency.
Member Duties : Design a story intake form for all program staff, building a quarterly story collection cadence into the organizational calendar, and creating simple prompts that help non-communications staff recognize and surface a story-worthy moment when they see one; Create a structured database that stores approved stories by theme, audience, format, and subject; Create documented, replicable process for how Step Up identifies a storytelling opportunity, matches it to a story from the library, drafts the story, and follows up to see it through distribution; Create an impact narrative framework —a structured approach to how Step Up talks about its work that is consistent across channels and audiences but adaptable to context.
